Corruption

Corruption is an act of falsehood conduct by an individual holding a powerful position. The youth worries a lot about a corrupted India because it is affecting our country adversely . Let us see what does our constitution says about corruption.
Prevention of Corruption Act, 1998 says public servants can be
penalized for corruption under the Indian Penal Code (IPC), 1860. The IPC
defines “public servant” as a government employee, officers in the military,
navy or air force; police, judges, officers of court of justice and say any
local authority established by a central or state. Section 169 pertains to a
public servant unlawfully buying or bidding for property. The public servant
shall be imprisonment for upto two years or fine with or both. So the question arises here that “Have we abided this section “? Many might say yes but think for one more time have we really?
When we think about corruption, the first thing which comes to
our mind is money in bundles. A
student can also be corrupted, now few might ask how; in an examination hall if a student cheats
then he or she is a corrupted citizen. That student has gone against the section
169. Let’s be honest for a moment we all
are corrupted in some way or the other. Let it be you or me. We may not accept
it but we are. We can’t remove corruption completely we can just reduce it. It
is an immeasurable issue.
Corruption can be categorized into 3 categories.
Ø
Political
corruption-It includes
kidnapping, violence, injustice, murder etc. To win in election, political
parties are using liquor, women, wealth and everything among people.
Ø
Administrative
corruption-It includes
persons like higher authorities, officers, clerks etc.
Ø
Professional
corruption-It is related
to fake medicines, duplicating import items/theft items, mixture in eatables, adulteration.
The Jan Lokpal Bill is an anti-corruption bill drawn up by the civil society activists in India seeking the appointment of a Jan Lokpal, an
independent body to investigate corruption cases. To draw the attention of the
government, a campaign “India Against Corruption” (IAC) was started in 2011.
Anna Hazare is the head of the civil society and IAC moment.
The
definition of corruption given by Transparency International (TI) is
“the misuse of public power for private benefit”. Transparency International
publishes the Corruption Perceptions Index (CPI) since 1995, annually ranking countries by
their perceived levels of corruption as determined by the expert assessments
and opinion surveys. However, there are some limitations which are as follows:-
Ø
The index has been criticized on the basis of
its methodology.
Ø
Corruption is too convoluted in nature. The
nature of corruption varies from rural areas to urban areas.
Ø
The index only covers public sector.

India has been ranked 81 with 40 points.
It is acting like a virus which is eating our people’s
honesty, labour's hard work and country’s economy. It is in our hands whether to allow it to grow
or to at least reduce the corruption level. Just ignoring few notes is your
contribution towards Corruption Free India. Here is a small attempt to tell
people how worst it has become and we really need to stop this. Let us work together for a Corruption Free India.
Jai Hind.
