DEVELOPMENT- THE NEED TO PRIORITIZE

Development is a process which enlarges people's choices and makes them independent so that they can make right decisions for themesleves. India got its Independence in 1947. This year we will be celebrating 71 years of independence and we really need to ask this question “Why are we still counted in the list of developing countries?”We all know that we can achieve our goals with the help of our government.

We all have got our own excuses for why India is not developing. Some say “government is responsible and is not fulfilling its duties towards its citizen”. Few say “upcoming generation is not up to the mark” Forget about politicians think about you. Are we responsible citizens? Have most of us voted in the recent elections?

Development can be broadly categorized in 3 categories i.e Social development, Economic development and Political development. We have to work in all three categories. All over the world constitution of  democratic countries grant political equality by enshrining rights like right to vote, right to education etc. This ensures political development to a major extent. These rights help them to participate in the affairs of state. Bringing political equality can be the first step towards social development. It requires that people belonging to different groups and communities have fair and equal chance to compete for goods and services. However, it is very impractical to ask economic equality and development in terms of co. Democracy can try to make people equal in terms of opportunity but still economic inequality cannot be eradicated   We can start development from our house itself. Social development starts from our house and we can engage ourselves in these small developmental practices.

                Boycotting casteism is a development.

Following traffic rules for yourself and for others is a development.

    Accepting homosexuality.

    Stop believing and practicing stereotype.

Development of a country like India involves big plans, huge investment, great will power, honest officials etc. The main thing we all sensitive Indians must understand that every individual or every community cannot be satisfied every time. There will be some crticism by someone or the other, which is good because as we all know crticism is good for a healthy democracy. An example will make it clearer.

On 27 May 2018 Prime Minister Narendra Modi of India inaugurated two newly built expressways-phases 1 of Delhi Meerut Expressway and the Rs 11,000 crore Eastern Peripheral expressways. This expressway stretches from Nizamuddin Bridge to Delhi-UP border. It is 135 km long. Because of this project many people got job opp for a period of time but at the same time many people lost their houses and property. In this case people who lost their house are disappointed but people who will commute in a shorter duration will be benefited.

There is no use of complaining unless we find some solutions. There are millions of people who can complain but there are only few people who look for solutions. Cheers to those who are here to heed for solutions. We too deserve and can become a developed nation. It's just a matter of time and we will be where we have aspire to be.
